Sure-footed as a mountain hobbit!

Run Frodo, RUN!! … for real this time.”

This fundraising challenge has actually been around two years in the making in a way; following on from running to John O’Groats from Lands End in March, 2014. I remember being in a hotel in Wick on the penultimate day, when I got a message on social media from my friend Scott, showing me this thing you could do at the time on Google Maps where you plug in walking directions from the Shire to Mordor, and it would give you some smart-ass response along the lines of “use caution” as “one does not simply walk into Mordor“. Or something like that.

I remember agreeing at the time that I would definitely like to do something like that as a fundraiser for the future, although in truth, Lands End to John O’Groats crippled me financially (as most of my ideas do), but I was determined to keep it there as a thought for the future.

PrintTime moved on and I took on challenges like my Frodo Goes to Wales series; one in summer, and another in Winter that almost killed me. Then I thought I’d have a go at learning to cycle, by purchasing a road bike and cycling from John O’Groats to Lands End last year, which also happened to cripple me financially as well as battering me with freak, summer storms. All the while, I had it in the back of my mind, that this Lord of the Rings challenge would have to be next! Just as soon as I’d dug myself out of this pit of debt… I haven’t yet, but close enough.

I am funding this trip 100% out of my own pocket, so every penny raised will go to the Hospice. This also includes allowing for a month of not working as well. So very much hoping there will be plenty of people wanting Personal Training when I get back.
